A warm welcome back to the blog, we hope that everyone is doing ok.
Whilst we are all spending vast amounts of time tucked away in our homes it seems the perfect opportunity to change up the scenery a little bit. I think it is safe to say that we all know too well the feeling of being bored with our environment and can all empathise with wanting a bit of a change up. Perhaps a new floor lamp for the living room or a kitchen lighting refresh is the perfect change to get you excited about your environment again, or the perfect project to keep you busy!
Whatever the reason for a lighting update this post has something to cater to everybody’s style, dedicated to the interior and lighting trends that we are expecting to become popular during 2021.
This year we expect to see more experimentation with patterns and textures, as well as bold floor lamps used to bring together a room whilst aiding in making the space tranquil. Additionally, this year we are expecting the development of a varied colour palette, some of which we have become familiar with over the last year however, will hold a more prominent presence in our homes. From beautiful blues to gorgeous green tones and noteworthy neutrals, these hues create a striking feature or calming atmosphere.
Stand out texture and patterns
This year is all about stand-out pieces and experimenting with a collection of different textures and patterns, uniting these to create a unique and eclectic interior statement. This trend is highly versatile and can work in any room or interior style, creating an eye capturing design and contemporary ambiance. Due to this being a very broad but exciting trend, it can be overwhelming to know where to start, so below we have collated some of our favourite lights fitting with this trend in an array of styles to help inspire you.
These beautiful large lights such as pictures 3, 12 and 21 would work wonderfully in the bedroom to bring a sense of elegance, whilst the bigger chandelier styled lights such as those of 6, 9, 17 and 18 would look gorgeous in the hallway working as a statement art piece.
It doesn’t always have to be about size, you can also incorporate this trend via beautifully detailed wall sconces (14) or table lamps (2 and 15), coupling these with colourful interiors to create a vibrant tone. This trend is all about playing around and experimenting with different styles to create something unique and fun that fits your individual taste.
Greens, blues and ocean hues
Blues and greens are fast becoming a popular choice for interiors, from beautiful sage or forest green kitchens to deep navy or costal blue hues in the bathroom. This trend is all about bringing the outside in with these colours synonymous to nature, so why not extend these gorgeous shades to your lighting choice, adding an earthy and calming tone to your home or creating a pop of colour.
What makes these shades so popular is that they go with a plethora of other colours such as neutrals, generating a soothing tone. Additionally, you can contrast these colours with bolder hues or even with one another to create something unique, looking particularly striking in the presence of dark interiors.
We love olive! Whilst dark sage has been a firm favourite for interior design for a while, with It being suggested that Dakota Johnson’s infamous kitchen drove this trend, we feel that this darker, more muted shade of green (7) has not been appreciated enough. However, with earthier shades quickly finding their way inside, it is no surprise that olive is fast becoming a firm favourite. – shop the rest of our olive green lights here.
Bold Floor lamps
Floor lamps are becoming increasingly popular in recent times, chosen by interior designers more and more often due to their versatility. These floor lamps can be used to accentuate the darker corners of a room or positioned next to an armchair to create a peaceful reading nook (another hot 2021 trend!), whilst aiding the ability to double up as a decorative art piece in your home.
These beautiful lamps come in an array of different shapes and styles fit for any interior choice. From bold black to brushed brass, these are a few of our favourites that we can see becoming popular in 2021. If you are looking for something stand out then 1 and 6 would work beautifully to give a uniqueness to your home, whilst 2, 9 and 11 hold an elegance to them. The tripod styled lamps (13 and 10) would look beautiful in an industrial interior space whilst number 16 would work wonderfully over an armchair to create that cosy feel.
If you are not quite ready for the bold statement of an oversized floor lamp, or on the hunt for something subtler that still eliminates a gorgeous glow, then the above are a perfect option. Whilst still creating a cosy atmosphere these lights can be tucked behind a chair or in the corner of the room.
